This Tuesday, the president of the Somme Departmental Council, Stéphane Haussoulier (various right), was sentenced to three years of suspended imprisonment, three years of ineligibility and a fine of 30,000 euros by the Beauvais court. He was notably accused of embezzlement of public property, fraud and money laundering.
Stéphane Haussoulier was therefore found guilty of having taken advantage of his various political and professional hats to obtain double, or even triple, reimbursements for travel and restaurant expenses, between 2016 and 2023.
Alcohol, luxury restaurants and strip clubs
The 56-year-old elected official was also accused of having used the bank cards made available to him as part of his multiple functions for purchases: cash withdrawals, alcohol, luxury restaurants like the George V in Paris, strip club -tease… all for more than 280,000 euros. According to the court, the total damage was estimated at 370,000 euros.
At the hearing of his trial, on October 1, if Stéphane Haussoulier had admitted “negligence” on his part, he nevertheless refuted any “organized system”. The elected official even went so far as to suggest that the expense reports could have been mixed up by his assistants, or even that it was a plot against him. His lawyer, Me Antoine Maisonneuve, also indicated that he was going to appeal the decision.
