The French robber best known to the general public will remain in solitary confinement in prison. This is what the magistrates of the Sentence Enforcement Chamber of Douai (North) decided this Monday. This decision fell following an appeal from the prosecution, after the decision of a sentence enforcement judge to lift the isolation to which he has been subject since 2011.
As RTL reveals, information of which Le Parisien has obtained confirmation, the magistrates however believe that the detention regime imposed on Rédoine Faïd is “particularly rigorous”. A sentence enforcement judge had underlined in an order that the isolation measure for prison number 1016 incarcerated at the Vendin-le-Vieil prison (Pas-de-Calais) was “offensive to human dignity” and that the prison administration had 30 days “to remedy it”, a few weeks ago.
At the time, Benoît David, Rédoine Faïd's lawyer, considered that “the indignity of his client's detention conditions” was recognized “because of the isolation decisions systematically renewed without any prospect of lifting, due to a hygiaphone device set up in each visiting room with loved ones, finally due to the lack of access to UVF (these apartments where prisoners can receive their loved ones)”. And to also consider that the sentence enforcement judge (JAP) “underlines – and this is a first – the fact that he is in reality undergoing sensory isolation, real torture within the meaning of the European Convention for the Protection of Human rights. »
But this Monday, the magistrates of the Douai Court of Appeal referred the detainee and his counsel to other avenues: the possibility of setting up “animal mediation”, or even “animal treatment”. light therapy »reveals again RTL.
