“I'm ugly”: Lorie distraught in the face of the doubts of her daughter, Nina, victim of teasing at school: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Lorie, who will very soon return to the stage to celebrate 20 years of her singing career, was, at the end of November, invited on the set of the show Dr Good ! by Michel Cymes on YouTube. The theme? The ravages of screens and, more broadly, of social networkswhich can have a impact on self-esteem people who pay too much attention to the looks of others. Problems that can be transposed into real life, for all ageseven in toddlers. The 42-year-old singer and actress recently had a clear example of this with her daughter. Little Nina, 4 years old, made his heart ache when she said to him: “I'm ugly.”

Since the beginning of the week, my daughter no longer wants to dress normally. She said to me: 'But no, I'm ugly, mom I'm ugly'. I replied: 'But why do you say you're ugly? You're cute as hell.' Suddenly, she no longer wanted to wear sweaters that she loved.”entrusted Lorie to psychiatrist and psychotherapist Christophe André, specializing in education and parenting issues.

Faced with her daughter's confession, Lorie tried to understand why she felt this way and what had affected her self-esteem to this extent. “I did some digging and she told me, 'Because I have a girlfriend who told me I was ugly'”she then explained.

What caring parenting has changed for toddlers

Christophe André immediately reassured Lorie about her reaction to his daughter's sudden discomfort. Comfort and words of supportthat's all that was needed to give her at that moment, to restore her self-confidence. He further added that this approach was quite modern in parenting and that just a few years ago, children went through these crises of confidence alone.

“You are part of the new generation of parents attentive to these questions. In the past, kids had the same doubts but went through it in solitude. Being able to talk to your parents about it, it's fundamental. May parents listen attentively, put things back on their feet, console… Even if it doesn't work right away, these are little seeds that you plant for the future.” Now, adults approach parenthood with a more caring approach and pay more attention to their children's doubts.
