“The one who pressed the button is Gabriel Attal,” considers MP Laurent Jacobelli

While the National Rally announced this Monday to file a motion of censure against Michel Barnier, after the use of article 49.3 on the Social Security budget, the RN deputy Laurent Jacobelli considered that the responsibility for this political instability fell to former Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.

“There is a terrible lack of conviction within the government bloc.” This Monday, at the end of negotiations with the Prime Minister, the National Rally announced that it would file a motion of censure against Michel Barnier and his government, after the latter used article 49.3 of the Constitution to pass, without a vote, the social security financing bill (PLFSS).

“Until the last moment we will have given the Prime Minister a chance to take into account our requests regarding the purchasing power of the French,” RN deputy Laurent Jacobelli told CNEWS. He did not want to respond to the demand of the 11 million voters of the National Rally.

A Prime Minister restrained by his camp?

While the addition of the votes of the deputies of the New Popular Front and those of the RN would be sufficient to bring down the government of Michel Barnier, the elected official from criticized the lack of cohesion and understanding within the “common base” , going so far as to point the finger at former Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.

“By not giving the Prime Minister any room for maneuver, by implementing a counter-movement, Gabriel Attal put the head of government in an impossible situation,” judged Laurent Jacobelli. It was he who pressed the censorship button.”

If the different political forces present in Parliament clashed during the study of the Budget, Laurent Jacobelli considered that “those who had the harshest words” were “in the common base”.

The motion of censure of the National Rally has almost no chance of being adopted, due to the refusal of the deputies of the New Popular Front to vote for it. That of the left, on the other hand, could well be able to bring down Michel Barnier's government on Wednesday.
