It's a nice Christmas gift that Joe Biden gave his son Hunter. The president announced Sunday evening that he was pardoning him… thus avoiding a possible stay in prison, and putting an end to a legal and political saga which had lasted for more than five years. In June, Hunter Biden was found guilty of lying about his drug use when filling out a firearm acquisition form in 2018, and of illegally possessing a pistol for eleven days. Separately in September, he pleaded guilty in a Los Angeles court to falsifying documents and failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes. He faced up to 25 years in prison, although he almost certainly would have received a lighter sentence. This presidential pardon comes as judges were expected to rule on Hunter Biden's sentence in the coming days.
