The aim of this reform is to “put an end to the 50,000 tariffs that have become illegible and unfair», in the words of IDF Mobilités, and make transport more attractive for Ile-de-France residents far from Paris. From January 2, 2025, it introduces a single rate of 2.50 euros for metro, RER and Transilien journeys, regardless of the point of departure or arrival.
If it brings savings for some, it also requires new calculations and strategic choices to maximize the advantages. One month before the big change, it is time to plan your trips and adapt to this new era of mobility in Île-de-France.
Will my old T+ tickets still be valid?
Yes, but only in the T+ zone, that is to say in Paris (metro, RER, bus and most trams). However, they will not provide access to the new advantageous conditions of the single rate.
Is it worth stocking up on tickets before the end of the year?
It depends on your habits. For regular travel, buying a book of 10 T+ tickets for 1.73 euros before December 31 can allow you to save compared to the single price of 2.50 euros. If you combine several means of transport or often travel beyond Paris, the new price list could however be more advantageous.
Is the cardboard format still accepted?
Yes for 2025, but by the end of 2025, there will be no more cardboard tickets at all. They must all be stored on a Navigo Easy pass.
What are the new rates and how to use them?
The single rate of 2.50 euros applies to metro, RER and Transilien journeys in all zones, regardless of distance. Bus or tram journeys (excluding specific lines such as T11, T12 and T13) will cost 2 euros. These tickets can be purchased and loaded onto a Navigo Easy pass, a smartphone or a connected watch via dedicated applications (IDF Mobilités, Bonjour RATP or SNCF Connect). Please note, your Navigo Easy or smartphone must be empty of any stock of T+ tickets to load the new titles.
Will the Navigo pass still be a good deal in 2025 with the single price?
What are the most advantageous subscriptions with the reform?
The reform introduces new rules for choosing between the monthly Navigo pass, the Liberté+ and the purchase of single tickets:
- Monthly Navigo pass (88.80 euros): profitable from 18 monthly journeys if we consider a unit cost of 2.50 euros. Partial coverage by the employer makes it particularly interesting for employees.
- Liberté+ Pass (1.99 euros per journey): ideal for teleworkers and regular but less frequent users. With 23 or more journeys per month, it becomes more economical than purchasing individual tickets.
- Individual tickets: for occasional users, the single fare simplifies travel in all areas, but frequent journeys risk inflating the bill.
What's new for peripheral areas and airports?
Travelers from the outer suburbs are among the main beneficiaries of this reform. For example, a Fontenay-sous-Bois–Paris journey will now cost 25 euros for 10 journeys, compared to 32 euros currently. A resident of Cergy will pay 25 euros, or 37.5% less than today. On the other hand, journeys to airports will be billed at a single rate of 13 euros, a notable increase for certain lines such as Orlybus.
