VIDEO. “Unfortunately things are not moving forward”: actress Emilie Dequenne, who is fighting a very rare cancer, announces she is “going back for chemo”

Actress Emilie Dequenne spoke about the recurrence of the very rare cancer against which she has been fighting for more than a year on the set of Sept à Huit, in “The Portrait of the Week”, this Sunday, December 1, 2024.

She has “tripped into an absolute nightmare” over a year ago now. Actress Emilie Dequenne announced on Instagram that she was in remission from a rare cancer, adrenocorticaloma, in April 2024.

Present on the Croisette, at the Film Festival, the 43-year-old actress explained on May 15 on the set of the show C à vous on 5 that she had been since “very tired and very, very monitored. It’s a complicated illness.”

Adrenocortical carcinoma develops from the cortex. It is a rare tumor since its incidence is 1 to 2 per million inhabitants. This type of cancer is sometimes present without apparent signs.

Last August, the woman who is also a mother was forced to move away from cinema and the media again for health reasons.

Emilie Dequenne was invited to the set of Sept à Huit, opposite Audrey Crespo-Mara, this Sunday, December 1, 2024. The day before, the Caesarized actress had learned of her analysis results. “I saw my doctor to check the progress of the treatment and it turns out that unfortunately it is not progressing.”

“A game that is progressing”

“There is a part of my cancer that responds to it and another that does not respond to it, or even progresses. The part that progresses is larger than the part that reduces, she confided, as bright as ever, on the TF1 set. And here I am again off for the chemo that I experienced a little over a year ago, with even a small additional dose of something new which, it seems, will surprise the tumor. But which requires hospitalization etc..”

“Losing my hair again”

“I'm going to lose my hair again… and then the idea of finding myself in the hospital every three weeks for five days…”, said Emilie Dequenne, specifying that, faced with her illness, doctors talk about “remission. We will never speak of recovery”.
