On the occasion of the release of her album “Je suis là”, Lara Fabian was invited by Laurent Delahousse on the 8:30 p.m. set, on France 2, on Sunday December 1, 2024. The singer looked back on the period during which she suffered from bulimia. A theme that she evokes in her new album, very intimate. “At the time you took an apple which you cut into seven pieces, to finally regulate over the week“, introduced the journalist. “I suffered from a complex eating disorder which wasn’t just bulimia, it was a little heavier”she explained. “It belongs to a long thread of black pearls that I have strung throughout my life, with bad encounters, and a way of receiving love in childhood that I could not feel.” she confided before talking about her childhood.
“This indescribable incomprehension that turns into an eating disorder”
“All parents love their children, but sometimes, are they really equipped to pass it on in the way that is clearest to us?” she asked, to talk about her own problem. “I am one of those people who, even though they were loved, sometimes had difficulty understanding how they were loved.”she said to explain the Genesis of the songs from her new album. “In this song in particular, Une fleur à la bouche, I tell the journey of this indescribable incomprehension which turns into an eating disorder, and which turns into a magnificent liberation in time, because I will find a way out of it all as I get a little older”, she concluded. A new, very intimate album for the singer, which recounts in songs the different traumatic periods of her life and the trials she went through. Today, Lara Fabian has discovered a passion for transmission. “I went to Canada and sat for the first time on the red chair of La Voix there, then I was director of the Star Academy for two years, then I came to do The Voice here, then The Voice Kids, I fell in love with transmission, with what it means to pay it forward”she confided. A nice message from this essential singer.
