CULTURE – “I don’t want to die. » In the show Seven to Eight broadcast this Sunday, December 1 on TF1, Belgian actress Émilie Dequenne revealed that she was in relapse of her rare cancer detected a little over a year ago.

“I saw my doctor to check the progress of the treatment and it turns out that unfortunately it is not progressing well”reveals the actress. However, she announced last April that she was in “complete remission”.

“There is a part of my cancer that responds, and another that does not respond or even progresses. The part that progresses is larger than the part that reduces. I'm off again for the chemo that I went through a little over a year ago”explains Émilie Duquenne, who revealed in October 2023 that she was ill.

“I won’t live as long as expected”

His cancer is an adrenocortical tumor affecting the adrenal gland, which has a vital function since it produces hormones. “It is a hyperrare cancer that affects 1 to 2 people in a million per year worldwide”recites the actress in Seven to Eight. “We only talk about remission. We will never speak of healing”she adds.

So here we go again for chemo, hospitalizations, and operations. “Deep down I know I won’t live as long as I expected”continues Émilie Duquenne, who nevertheless had the dream “to live at least until the age of 80 and to fall asleep permanently in your sleep”.

“I trust medicine. (…) I hope that research for my cancer will continue to advance,” she finishes. Émilie Dequenne was revealed for her first role in Rosetta by the Dardenne brothers, which won her the Best Actress Prize at the Film Festival in 1999.
