the RN considers that the government “has ended the discussion”

Marine Le Pen's party demanded new concessions from the government on this text, which will be submitted to the Assembly on Monday, with a very high risk of censorship.

The National Rally considers that the government “ended the discussion” on possible modifications to the social security budget, which will be submitted to the National Assembly on Monday and could cause the fall of Michel Barnier, its leader Marine Le Pen told AFP on Sunday.

“The government has expressed its wish not to modify the PLFSS (bill on the financing of social security), this is extremely clear and we have taken note of this”she clarified, relying on statements from Minister of Public Accounts Laurent Saint-Martin to the newspaper Le Parisien.

A few moments earlier, the president of the RN Jordan Bardella had expressed the same opinion on the social network “out of stubbornness and sectarianism, the government minority therefore puts an end to the cycle of negotiations, at the risk of provoking its censorship”.

Laurent Saint-Martin indicated that the government would transmit the compromise text between senators and deputies to the National Assembly and that it would be censored. “would amount to censoring a democratic agreement”. This is the project adopted last Wednesday during a joint committee (CMP) between elected officials from the two assemblies.

“There is a chance that we will draw conclusions”

Marine Le Pen, leader of the RN deputies, regretted that the government of Michel Barnier did not want “move on elements that seem unacceptable to us”. The RN notably cited as “absolute red line” the partial deindexation of pensions in relation to inflation, contained in the draft social security budget.

“We will not let the French be robbed to repair the errors of seven years of Macronism”Marine Le Pen told AFP, without explicitly commenting on government censorship. “There is a chance that we will draw consequences from this extremely closed and sectarian behavior”she only declared.

Without a majority in the National Assembly, Michel Barnier could decide on Monday to activate article 49.3 of the Constitution which allows adoption without a vote. He would then be exposed to a motion of censure which would be discussed on Wednesday at the earliest and which could bring him down if the RN added its votes to those of the left.
