Teddy Riner confirmed that he would try to win a sixth gold medal at the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028. He will then be 39 years old.
There were lots of people there on Friday evening at the Maison du Judo in Montrouge (Hauts-de-Seine), where Teddy Riner organized a thank you evening after winning his sixth Olympic gold medal at the Paris Games. Politicians, like Gil Avérous, the Minister of Sports, or the president of the Île-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse. “You are a great Frenchman and a great sportsman, thank you,” the latter declared into the microphone. Many great athletes of overseas origin were also present, such as the basketball player Sandrine Gruda, or the 1998 world football champions Thierry Henry, Lilian Thuram and Bernard Diomède.
“Thank you all”
An audience thanked warmly by Riner, who had made the most of his new coronation. “Thank you all for supporting me and helping me all these years, even when things were bad,” he first explained. “It makes me happy to be here, it touches me and it feels good to be in the spotlight There will be a lot of new news for me with the launch of my tournament, my foundation and some changes to the positioning of brands. Great things! The one who will participate next year in the French version of the reality TV show “Love is Blind” also, obviously, talked about sport, confirming that he was aiming for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
“The most important goal”
“The most important objective is the four years ahead, with the 2028 Olympic Games in mind,” recalled the Guadeloupean. The Japanese, who are looking for a solution to beat him, will not necessarily be delighted by the news… But who can prevent him from winning, at 39, a sixth gold medal in California?
