Saint-Tropez mobilizes once again for Paul Watson, with an inscription in fiery letters

It has been 132 days since Paul Watson was arrested in Greenland. A extradition request to Japan will be examined next Tuesday by the Danish authorities; December 2, the 74th birthday of the founder of Sea Shepherd, known for his actions against whaling;

After a first march in August, an auction at the beginning of October and the installation of a banner on the town hall, the city of Saint-Tropez and the association “Je fait ma part” are once again mobilizing in favor of the environmental activist, who lived for several years in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

An inscription in fiery letters on the Saint-Tropez Pier

A march is therefore organized again this Saturday, November 30, 2024. Participants are invited to come dressed in black and with candles. The meeting is set for 4:30 p.m. in front of the statue of Bailli de Suffren. Around 5:30 p.m., a message will in fact be written in fiery letters on the Saint-Tropez pier: “Free Paul Watson”. A message from Lamya Essemlali, President of Sea Shepherd , will also be read by Marie Navarro, president of the “Je fait ma part” association.

This ecology enthusiast recalls that her association invited Paul Watson 10 years ago for the first edition of “Draw me a tomato”: “Many people came. He opened our consciences and our hearts to the need to protect the oceans and the whales. He explained that if the whales were in danger, we risked our lives as humans because they are the protectors of biodiversity in the ocean.

“The Gandhi of the sea”

Marie Navarro continues by calling on the inhabitants of the Gulf to mobilize for Paul Watson: “His detention makes no sense. You should know that Denmark, Japan and Iceland are the last countries to kill whales in the world. The other states have accepted the fact that they must instead be protected and save. Paul Watson is truly “the Gandhi of the sea”. You might think that what he does is violent! nothing violent about stopping factory ships who destroy whales, defenseless animals on the sea.

The “I do my part” association reminds us that Paul Watson needs support and that he will inevitably hear about the actions taken to demand his release.
