Trump declined the invitation, but who among the heads of state will be there?

If François declined, others responded favorably among the hundred or so international personalities approached. But not Donald Trump, says “Le Parisien”. Representing the United States between the November election and the winner taking office can be tricky. The current president remains Joe Biden, until January 20, but Donald Trump is the president-elect, the one with whom the future is being written. The simplest thing, for an event without political connotations, was to invite them both. The most diplomatic is the solution that seems to be emerging, since it will apparently be Jill Biden, the first lady, who will represent the United States. The Americans were the first donors abroad.

A part of European civilization

Other notable absentees, according to “Le Parisien”, are the British and Spanish sovereigns, Charles III and Felipe VI. The King of Morocco Mohammed VI – who contributed financially in 2019 to the reconstruction of the cathedral – and his Jordanian counterpart Abdallah II received an invitation.
