Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is engaged to actress-singer Hailee Steinfeld, the couple announced Friday.
Allen revealed he proposed to Steinfeld last week, getting down on one knee in front of a floral arch filled with pink and red roses. A photo shows them kissing after she apparently said “I do” to his outdoor proposal, near a body of water with a pathway of floating candles leading to the romantic spot.
“11-22-24,” they wrote in a shared Instagram post with “infinity” emojis, confirming their engagement.
“Congrats brother!!!” actor Chad Michael Murray, a lifelong Bills fan who grew up near Buffalo, commented.
“Congratulations to @JoshAllenQB and @HaileeSteinfeld on their engagement,” the Bills’ official X (formerly Twitter) account added.
A source told People magazine that their families are also ecstatic: “They’ve been head over heels from the start,” an insider said. “Their families are thrilled.”
Allen, 28, and Steinfeld, 27, have been dating for more than a year, though their romance hasn’t gotten as much attention as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Allen is the star QB for the Bills, leading Buffalo to the NFL playoffs for the past five years and a 9-2 record so far this season. The two-time Pro Bowl athlete grew up near Fresno, California, and played college Football at the University of Wyoming before being selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s also known for his love of golf and appearances in dozens of TV commercials.
Steinfeld, 27, is primarily known for her acting career, appearing in films and TV shows like “Pitch Perfect 2,” “Pitch Perfect 3,” “Bumblebee,” “The Edge of Seventeen,” “Charlie’s Angels” and “Dickinson.” She also played Kate Bishop in “Hawkeye” and “The Marvels,” voiced Gwen Stacy in the animated blockbusters “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” and was nominated for an Oscar for her role in 2011′s “True Grit.”
As a singer, Steinfeld has released two albums and performed in some of her onscreen roles like “Begin Again.” Her music career includes pop hits “Starving” (with Grey and Zedd) and “Let Me Go” (with Alesso and Florida Georgia Line) — both of which have more than 1 billion streams on Spotify — and songs like “Most Girls,” “Capital Letters” (with BloodPop), “Love Myself,” “Coast” (feat. Anderson .Paak) and “SunKissing.” (Steinfeld also appeared in Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video and was part of the superstar’s “squad” in 2015.)
Allen’s relationship with Steinfeld made headlines in March when a viral video showed him awkwardly exiting a car in Paris, France, and rushing away from his famous girlfriend. Allen later revealed his pants ripped at dinner and laughed off the wardrobe malfunction: “Didn’t want cheeks out… I love Paris.”
The celebrity couple was first spotted on multiple dates in New York City in May 2023. She has since appeared at several Buffalo Bills games, including at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park and in London, and went shopping with Allen’s mom at a local clothing store in Buffalo.
This will be the first marriage for both Allen and Steinfeld. Allen previously dated Brittany Williams, a former Fresno State cheerleader who grew up in the same town as Allen, and Steinfeld was previously linked to One Direction singer Niall Horan.
Allen has largely attempted to keep the relationship private, criticizing paparazzi that snapped photos of him kissing Steinfeld on a vacation in Mexico during the 4th of July holiday last year.

“The fact that anybody cares about that still blows my mind,” Allen told the “Pardon My Take” podcast in August 2023. “I just, like, felt this gross feeling… Insecurity. No privacy. [I was] like, ‘What is wrong with people?’”
Allen and the Bills next play the San Francisco 49ers on “Sunday Night Football” at Highmark Stadium. The game will kick off Sunday, Dec. 1, at 8:20 p.m.
