Shaka Ponk bows out, between music and ecology

After two decades of success, Shaka Ponk is preparing to leave the stage. Their tourThe Final F* Up» ends in Paris, marking the end of a group which mixed electro-rock and ecological commitment. Despite their efforts to limit the footprint of their tours, musicians consider their activity incompatible with their environmental convictions. Their last concert will be broadcast in cinemas in 2025.

Shaka Ponk, the flagship group of French electro-rock, bids farewell with a series of sold-out concerts at the Accor Arena in Paris. After 20 years on stage and 1.5 million spectators gathered on their farewell tour, they are preparing to turn the page, motivated by their ecological values.

Since its beginnings, Shaka Ponk has left its mark with hits like ''My Name is Stain'' or ''I'm Picky''. But it was on stage, with explosive visual shows, that they built their legend. However, the group believes that their success, involving polluting tours, contradicts their ecological message. “It's complicated to advocate respect for the planet while having an activity that pollutes“, confides Samaha Sam, one of the voices of the group to AFP.

Despite eco-responsible initiatives – vegan meals, plastic hunting – the members of Shaka Ponk face the inevitable impact of the travel of thousands of spectators. Resolute, they announce that their commitment to the environment will continue in other ways, notably through their collective “The Freaks”.

Their last concert will be broadcast in theaters in April 2025, a final tribute for their fans. Their latest album, reissued with previously unreleased material, extends their message: a call for sobriety and criticism of overconsumption. True to form, Shaka Ponk leaves the stage in a final burst, in line with their convictions.
