Friday November 29, the Bordeaux forensic hematology laboratory found two traces of DNA on the bones and clothes of little Emile, reveals RTL. Traces of human DNA which do not belong to the boy's relatives.
A glimmer of hope? The Bordeaux forensic hematology laboratory found two traces of DNA on the bones and clothes of little Émile, a young boy who disappeared in the commune of Vernet in July 2023. The two traces analyzed come from human DNA and above all unknown, that is to say, foreign to that of Émile and his family, revealed RTL this Friday, November 29. Information needed to solve this mystery?
Still too many gray areas
But it's not that simple. The DNA found in small quantities and degraded prevents the search for matches with the DNA present in the automated genetic fingerprint file from being refined. And as our colleagues explain, you need at least twelve characteristics to interpret the prints.
Especially since these residues could very well come from the gendarmes themselves. On March 30, 2024, a hiker found the young boy's clothes, leading the Gendarmerie's Criminal Research Institute to carry out initial analyses. Manipulations which could have led to contamination of the elements, as indicated by a specialist with RTL: “With humidity and over time, masks and gloves can become porous and leak cells.“
However, research continues. The Director General of the national gendarmerie affirmed on RTL, on November 27, that investigators are working hard on the case to “allow the family to grieve.“
