RC Lens needed to smile again this Friday. Indeed, last week, Lens lost to Marseille after a frustrating match (1-3). A defeat which prevented the Lensois from repositioning themselves in the ranking and remaining close to the leading pack. Facing Reims, who were coming off a draw against Lyon last Saturday (1-1), Lens therefore wanted to taste victory again. To do this, Will Still, back on the pitch at the Auguste-Delaune stadium which had allowed him to emerge in Ligue 1 in recent seasons, decided to field his almost typical team.

On the other hand, his predecessor Luka Elsner trusted the same eleven as against Lyon last week where only Teddy Teuma entered the eleven. So, everything was there to watch a good match. From the outset, the visitors were offensive and M’Bala Nzola, launched from deep, did not get on target to open the scoring (3rd). An opening score which takes place twenty minutes later. After an uncertain clearance from Cédric Kipré, Adrien Thomasson controlled with his chest before finishing with a nice cross shot (0-1, 23rd). At the end of the first act, the Lensois were close to seeing their opponent equalize but Brice Samba (41st) and Andy Diouf prevented Reims from coming back to match their opponent.
Lens showers the hopes of Reims
Returning from the locker room, the balance of power remained the same and Lens continued to control its subject. Despite this, the Rémois, who remained in the last 10 minutes of quality, looked for a way to quickly equalize in order to reverse the situation. However, quite the opposite happened. Indeed, after a save from Yehvann Diouf (55th) against M’Bala Nzola and a huge miss from the Angolan international (8 caps, 2 goals) three minutes later, the latter doubled the lead after an incredible sequence ( 0-2, 62nd).

Stunned, the Rémois were unable to get back into the game. Despite Brice Samba’s incredible save against Junya Ito (73rd), Lens was not necessarily threatened and therefore managed a match controlled from start to finish in Reims (0-2). With this success, Lens repositions itself and moves up to 6th place in the standings. For its part, another failure for Reims in the face of its public. The Rémois stagnate in 9th place in the ranking.
