There are many cult scenes in The Three Brothersand that of the dinner with Pascal's boss and colleagues remains the most emblematic of French comedy. Moreover, the filming of this sequence took a very long time to shoot, as Élie Semoun confided.
The Three Brothers tell the story of three half-brothers, who learn of the existence of each of them when their mother dies, and they have to sign her will with a very nice inheritance at stake. They each have a totally different life, to the point that Didier (Bourdon) and Bernard (Campan) envy the seemingly ideal life of Pascal (Légitimus).
An iconic scene in The Three Brothers
Unlike his brothers, Pascal has a dream job which allows him to live very easily in a sublime apartment in the heart of Paris. His job is central to the plot of his character, to the point that a cult scene from the film is related to this narrative arc. Remember from the dinner scenein which Pascal invites his bosses and colleagues to his home to sign a big contract.
Dinner that turns sour since Didier and Bernard unexpectedly invite themselveswhile they are on the substance. They therefore make fun of Pascal's boss and his wife, with ” rather Braque… Vasarely! » A cult and hilarious scene which was very difficult for Élie Semoun to shoot, as they couldn't be serious.
The filming of this sequence lasted an hour because of the laughter
In an interview with Première, Élie Semoun returned to the filming of this cult scene in The Three Brothers. « With Didier Bourdon and Bernard Farcy, we had a huge fit of giggles during the dinner scene where I say 'rather Braque…Vasarely'. Impossible to stop, it was memorable, the irrepressible thing. It must have lasted an hour! It bothered me a little, I was still a beginner » he confided, before specifying that it was his “ first role in a professional film » .
And even today, the actor and comedian has great memories of this shoot. “ It was a super funny, very relaxed shoot. It's rare in a comedygenerally we don't laugh that much because humor is paradoxically very serious » .
