“You have to know how to leave on time”: Eddy Mitchell discusses the possible end of his career

Thursday November 28, Eddy Mitchell gave an interview to Parisian on the occasion of the release of his 40th album. The 82-year-old singer did not escape a question about the future of his career, showing himself to be particularly lucid.

82 years, 40 albums and still energy: Eddy Mitchell well, thanks for him. At the end of October, the singer was hospitalized due to pneumonia and had to interrupt the promotion ofFriendshis 40th album released on November 8. “It's going slowly, it's going well. (…) They say that you shouldn't smoke, that you shouldn't drink, that you shouldn't eat fatty foods. Finally, that you shouldn't do anything… ” he confided a few days ago to Audrey Crespo-Mara. A smoker since he was 14, accustomed to drinking up to two bottles of whiskey a day, Eddy Mitchell is forced to tighten his screws to prolong the adventure. A worrying state of health, which has already pushed him to give up going on stage. And soon stop music completely to take care of himself? The one who has already reserved his place at the cemetery “facing the sea” seems clear-minded about his future.

“I will not be a singing mouse”

Asked by The Parisian this Thursday on the occasion of the release of his album but also of an autobiography, the great friend of Johnny Hallyday spoke without filter about a possible retirement in the coming years. While he always seemed like he didn't want to give up, his health problems seem to have disrupted his plans: “I don't have a specific project. You have to know how to leave on time. I've seen so many who would have been better off staying home. As I say in the book, I won't be a singing mouse.” he confided. Another door, however, seems well and truly closed: that of his career as an actor, he who only appeared in a movie in 2024. “It's haphazard luck. I don't wait afterwards, and they don't wait for me either. I am often offered roles that don't interest me. I did a TV film which worked very well with Laurent Gerra, but it was out of the ordinary” he conceded. Let Eddy Mitchell's fans take full advantage of this 40th album, not sure that the singer will offer them a 41st.
