WATER CRISIS, LAURINO AND TRIVIGNO TALKING

The mayors of Tito and Laurenzana, two of the municipalities affected by the emergency, will be guests

The water emergency is the central theme of the episode of “Beyond the garden”, the in-depth talk hosted by Paride Leporace broadcast on channel 68 of Cronache Tv. The Public Prosecutor's Office of Potenza has started investigations to verify the regularity of the operations relating to the water crisis, carrying out searches at various institutions and companies involved. Documentary acquisitions and water sampling for chemical-physical analyzes are underway, in order to guarantee the safety of drinking water. In the studio we talk about it with the mayor of Tito Fabio Laurino and that of Laurenzana Giuseppe Trivigno, two municipalities seriously affected by the water crisis, who express concerns and requests for clarity. The mayors, in fact, underline the lack of clear and timely communication from the relevant bodies, which has aggravated the emergency situation. Entire communities remained without water for over 50 hours, schools had to be closed and the inconveniences felt were countless. Laurino and Trivigno then ask for more autonomous management of water resources and direct intervention on local sources to improve the situation. During the episode, the need for a long-term emergency plan and a crisis table involving all local actors to address water problems was highlighted. Finally, Laurino and Trivigno express their willingness to collaborate with the authorities to find effective solutions and guarantee water security for their communities. From the water emergency we move on to the problems affecting Matera which is currently led by the prefectural commissioner after the fall of the Bennardi administration. Guest in the studio was Vincenzo Santochirico who presented his new political project aimed at a resumption of political and civil activity in Matera and called “Common Project”. The project began this summer, in response to a crisis of identity and uncertainty in the city, accentuated by the pandemic and political changes. The intent is to involve citizens in an active dialogue on local issues, overcoming the lack of communication and participation found after 2019. Santochirico, in the episode, criticized the absence of clear projects both on the part of the administration that of the opposition. He underlines that Matera must be governed with courage and decision, not just administered, and that a strategic vision for the future is necessary. The project aims to collect ideas and skills from citizens, including young people returning to Matera after experiences abroad. Santochirico expresses skepticism about traditional parties, underlining the need for a civic approach and greater awareness among citizens. An open dialogue is proposed with all civic and political forces, but with a focus on the real needs of the city rather than on predefined alliances. In closing, at Oltre il Giardino we discussed cuisine and in particular the week of Italian cuisine in Bucharest with Francesco Rizzo and Giovanni Baldantoni, president of Palazzo Italia Bucharest.
