Teams who finish inside the top eight after eight games will automatically progress to the competition’s round of 16, whereas those ranked 9th to 24th qualify for the knock-out round play-off.
Those who finish 25 or above face elimination – a position which, according to Opta Stats (via Nils Mackay on social media) Rangers have a 0.1% chance of finding themselves in.
The odds of Rangers winning the league-phase are equally slim at 0.3%, however a top-eight finish at this stage has a likelihood of 25.6%.
