Jamie O’Hara has jokingly predicted a “spanking” for Tottenham when they take on Rangers in the Europa League next month.
The Gers cruised to a 4-1 win away at Nice on Thursday night (28 November), at the same time that Tottenham played out a 2-2 home draw with Roma.
Rangers have won three, drawn one and lost one of their five games in the competition – an identical record to Tottenham, who they host at Ibrox on 12 December.
Speaking on talkSPORT [28 November, 10:15pm]O’Hara offered his take on the Gers’ win against Nice and that upcoming fixture with former side Spurs.
“Rangers won. The Scottish teams are going to start spanking everyone,” he said.
“They’re flying. We’re gonna get a spanking.”
Rangers in great position in Europa League ahead of Tottenham clash
Philippe Clement’s men may be struggling badly domestically right now, finding themselves 11 points adrift of leaders Celtic and nine behind Aberdeen in second, but they are looking very strong in Europe.
Okay, there was the 4-1 home loss to Lyon, but wins over Malmo, FCSB and Nice, as well as a draw away at Olympiacos, has the Gers well positioned to advance.
The Tottenham home game is not so much a free hit as such, but even a defeat in that one would not be disastrous.
It goes without saying that will be a special occasion when it comes around, and there is absolutely no reason why Clement’s side cannot pick up a win – never mind a draw.
Spurs have been up-and-down all season, which is not too dissimilar to Rangers in many ways in terms of the contrasting European and domestic form.
Before then, though, there are league games with St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Ross County. Nine points from those is arguably more important than anything that happens against Tottenham.
In other Rangers news, the club surely cannot sanction the sale of one player amid a new transfer update.
