Emmanuel Macron visited Notre-Dame de Paris one last time before its reopening. The cathedral has regained all its beautiful colors.
Notre-Dame de Paris returns to its splendor. A little more than five years after the fire that devastated itin April 2019, the Gothic cathedral regains its decorations, its sculptures and its spire. Its doors reopened on Friday, November 29, on the sidelines of the final site visit by the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron. The before/after is spectacular. In the heart of Notre-damethe statue of the Vierge surmounted by the cross took its place and the 23 chapels were revealed.
The President of the Republic also visited the medieval structures, not open to the public. 2,000 oak trees were used to rebuild the framework destroyed by the fire, as well as the spire, thanks to the mobilization of 2,000 workers. For Emmanuel Macron: “The shock of reopening will, I believe, be more stronger than that of the fire. But it will be a shock of expectations”.
