Highlights
– thermal contrast of more than 15°C between the southwest and the northeast
– increasingly numerous clouds over Brittany
Matin
The weather is dry, but quite cold over a northeast third. Clear night skies favor lower temperatures through radiation, and frosts (mild to moderate) are common: you'll scrape your car windshields if you have to leave early. Be careful again of the risk of freezing fog towards Alsace and Franche-Comté. It is predominantly gray in the northwest, but it is milder. Beautiful sunshine in the large south-west basin.
Temperatures are contrasting between the northeast and the south, ranging from -2°C (locally -5°C) to 11°C from the northeast to the south.
Afternoon
The sun is still generous on a diagonal going from the southwest to the Ardennes and Lorraine. Over Alsace and the center-east, the low clouds are struggling to dissipate with the atmosphere remaining quite cold. It will be time to drink mulled wine at the Christmas markets. In the northwest, the sky continues to darken with drizzle which begins on the Breton tip at the end of the afternoon.
The temperatures are very contrasting, with no more than 3°C in Strasbourg or Dijon, compared to 20°C in Biarritz, in a very spring-like atmosphere.
Soirée
Rainy developments over Brittany with the arrival of the Atlantic disturbance. Everywhere else the weather is calm with already frosts in Alsace.
Further trend
On Sunday, the situation deteriorates in the northwest with showers and wind, although it will be quite weak overall. In the southwest, we expect up to 23°C in Biarritz.
