Larger police search operation at Knaus Tabbert in Jandelsbrunn

UPDATE: Raid on Knaus Tabbert in Jandelsbrunn: Two board members in custody

Several police vehicles were on the Knaus Tabbert premises in Jandelsbrunn (Freyung-Grafenau district) on Wednesday morning. This was based on a search operation ordered by the Landshut public prosecutor’s office.

As Chief Public Prosecutor Stefan Mayridl confirmed to the Bavaria media group upon request, this is a “larger search operation”. According to him, it concerns the allegations of bribery in business transactions and breach of trust. As Knaus-Tabbert spokeswoman Lily Passberger confirmed, these are allegations against individual members of the company’s management “in connection with individual allegations of criminally relevant actions to the detriment of the company.” The company itself is not the subject of the allegations. Further details will follow later today.

Troubled times for mobile home manufacturers from the Bavarian Forest

It is not the first bad headline for the motorhome manufacturer from the Bavarian Forest in recent times: after three quarters, sales remained well under one billion euros, with a decline of 16.4 percent. The stock corporation based in the Freyung-Grafenau district reported 897.2 million euros at the beginning of November. Earnings before taxes fell by 51 percent.

Shortly afterwards, the next bad news: Production at the locations in Jandelsbrunn (Freyung-Grafenau district) and in Nagyoroszi, Hungary, will be stopped by the end of the year. The production lines have been at a standstill since Monday, November 18th.

A change in the management team took place just a few days ago

Meanwhile, there was also a change in the executive suite: Knaus-Tabbert boss Wolfgang Speck left at the end of October. Investor Wim de Pundert has now become the new CEO of the motorhome manufacturer. The 67-year-old Dutchman is no stranger to the company – on the contrary: de Pundert was the managing partner of HTP Investments, the main investor in Knaus Tabbert after its bankruptcy in 2009.
