Tonight, 6ter broadcasts Forever, a Cinderella story with Drew Barrymore. Inspired by the famous tale of the Brothers Grimm, this film offers a modern adaptation of the timeless legend, which has nearly 500 versions around the world. The oldest dates back to the period of the Chinese Empire. Far from traditional Western interpretations with magical elements, a benevolent fairy godmother and talking animals, this version anchors its story in 16th century , under the reign of Francis I, offering a more realistic and historical vision of history .

A strong, cultured and independent heroine

The story follows Danielle (Drew Barrymore), a kind-hearted young woman who, after the death of her father, falls under the thumb of her cruel stepmother, Baroness Rodmilla de Ghent. Raised alongside her two half-sisters, Marguerite and Jacqueline, Danielle quickly sees her status change, becoming a simple servant in her own house. Meanwhile, Prince Henry, future Henry II (played by Dougray Scott), is faced with a major dilemma. Pressed by his father to marry to seal a political alliance with Spain, he categorically refuses. Henry then makes a deal: he has one month to find true love, otherwise he will have to marry the Spanish princess. It is in this context that he crosses paths with a mysterious young woman… without knowing who she really is.

Despite her prejudices, Danielle, a young woman with a strong character, is nothing like the gentle and submissive Cinderella of traditional tales. Independent, spiritual and cultured, she ends up falling under the spell of the Prince of France. In return, his intelligence and his audacity seduce the future heir to the throne. But can love triumph over conventions? Will the prince accept Danielle when he discovers that she belongs to low society?

When love collides with the challenges and issues of History

In this story mixing political issues and sincere feelings, Danielle will be able to count on unexpected allies, including the famous Leonardo da Vinci. Yes, the Italian genius is an integral part of this story, which takes place at a time when he lived in France. A true mentor and support, he will even play a key role in becoming one of the main architects of this romance. Small surprise, Jeanne Moreau even plays a role in this film, to be seen this Thursday, November 28, from 9:10 p.m. on 6ter.
