Eintracht Frankfurt aim to continue their unbeaten run in the Europa League at Midtjylland on Thursday but have plenty of respect for Danish hosts.
Frankfurt are in impressive form to rank second in the Bundesliga and have 10 points from three victories and a drew in Europe’s second tier event they won in 1980 and 2022.
Coach Dino Toppmöller warned on Wednesday that the Danish champions, who have seven points, will be “a tough nut to crack” but also has confidence in his men.
“We have a clear objective. We want to build on our performances in recent weeks, play as a unit and be successful against a strong team. We’re looking forward to the challenge,” he said.
“We have a great deal of respect for Midtjylland. But we’re well prepared and had another very good session today. Ultimately it’s about showing that out on the pitch.”
Full back Rasmus Kristensen has returned from injury into the squad for the match against the club where he came through the academy to make his professional debut.
“Obviously it’s a special moment for me, being back here at my boyhood club. I grew up here and members of my family have played here too,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to tomorrow but I still hope we beat Midtjylland.”
Toppmöller did not want to reveal whether Kristensen would be in the starting 11, and he has plenty of players to chose from overall as forward Hugo Ekitiké and defender Arthur Theate are also available although they only participated in parts of Wednesday training.
