In the minister's sights, “gender theory”, taking up an expression used by a conservative fringe of society which is concerned about studies and teaching opening up to a nuanced perception of differences between the sexes. An idea often supported by movements close to opponents of homosexual marriage and sometimes the far right.
“Gender theory does not exist, it does not exist in the program either,” reacted Anne Genetet this Thursday, on the sidelines of a trip to Marcq-en-Barœul (North), disavowing the comments of Alexandre Porter. “The gender theory does not exist, it is false information,” she insisted.
Alexandre Portier does not “withdraw a single word”
Questioned Thursday alongside the Minister of Education in Marcq-en-Barœul, Alexandre Portier brushed aside the subject, while affirming not to “remove a single word” from his previous statements. “I am piloting this program, and the line of this program is the line of the ministry, there is no such theory in this program,” replied the minister.

For Anne Genetet, the sexuality education program “is very clear”, “progressive”, “adapted to all ages” and “allows you to learn fundamental notions such as respect, consent, knowing how to say no, what a girl is, what a boy is.” The minister also defended “a program that can support and accompany our teachers, which is completely clear and transparent”.
