Seven years in prison for the driver accused of the death of the son of chef Yannick Alléno

The Paris criminal court sentenced, Thursday, November 28, to seven years of imprisonment the man who was on trial for having killed in May 2022, drunk at the wheel of a stolen high-powered car, the son of star chef Yannick Alléno, relaunching the question of“road homicide”. The court issued against Franky D., 27, a deferred committal warrant with provisional execution, which will lead to his incarceration even in the event of an appeal.

Considering that he had “increased risky behavior” and the “recklessness” and adopted a “inconsistent behavior” leading him “to the drama”the court also sentenced Franky D. to a cancellation of his driving license and a ban on obtaining it for five years. At the end of October, the prosecution requested eight years' imprisonment with a committal warrant, as well as a ten-year driving ban against Franky D.

The young man, who appeared free under judicial supervision, was notably tried before the criminal court for involuntary manslaughter with at least two aggravating circumstances, involuntary injuries and violent theft.

On the evening of May 8, 2022, Franky D., who is part of the traveling community, drove, drunk, without a license aboard an Audi RS6, a powerful sedan, at 120 km/h in the streets of 7^e district of Paris, limited to 30. With this car, stolen a little earlier in the evening, he hit a VTC, then a taxi at a red light. He then lost control of the vehicle and hit a scooter.

The driver of the two-wheeler, Antoine Alléno, 24, and his passenger, Anisa, were ejected. The young man succumbed to his injuries, his helmet was found a few meters away. The passenger is injured. Fleeing on foot, Franky D. was quickly arrested. At 1:35 a.m., he was checked with 1.56 grams of alcohol per liter of blood.

The young man was on trial alongside two other defendants, René A., 47 years old, and Sniper G., 20 years old, prosecuted for gang theft. Both men were acquitted by the court, “for the benefit of the doubt” due to insufficiently characterized facts. Since the tragedy, the victim's father, Yannick Alléno, has become an ardent defender of the creation of a crime of“road homicide”a bill which was to pass a second reading in the National Assembly, before dissolution in June.
