We finally have a date for the arrival of the new Tesla Model Y, and it's coming soon

According to certain rumors in the corridors, the launch of the new Tesla Model Y is planned for January 2025. Its production has already started, on the same assembly line as the current version within the Shanghai factory.

As it prepares to have a great year in 2024, despite particularly strong Chinese competition, Tesla continues to fight to maintain its first place in the world against BYD. This is not obvious, because the firm accuses a drop in sales in Europe since the start of the year.

A new version coming soon

Its flagship model, the Model Y, even lost its crown in October and is placed 2nd on the podium behind the Skoda Enyaq. But there is no question for the American firm of letting itself be defeated, quite the contrary. Because it has more than one trick up its sleeve to stay ahead of its rivals, and this should notably involve the arrival of a new model. Besides the recently unveiled Cybercab, Tesla is also working on a new version of its electric SUV.

Storing solar energy has never been easier

No need to be an electrician to collect and store solar energy. Zendure's Hyper 2000 is a Plug & Play solution that is very easy to install at homeā€¦ and capable of generating up to 600 euros of electricity per year!

This is not simply the seven-seater variant which arrived in in October, but a completely new version. This is currently known as Model Y Juniperand she is starting to make herself wait. Stolen photos had already been published this summer, showing a copy still heavily camouflaged, although the manufacturer has not made any official statement for the moment. Last month, however, we announced that production would already have started.

Many clues suggest that this is indeed the case, and now a new one has just been revealed. This one comes to us from the Chinese site ItHomewhich informs us that the restyled Tesla Model Y will be officially launched very soon, from January 2025. An imminent arrival, therefore, for this new version, which will initially be assembled within the Shanghai Gigafactoryin China, the most productive of the brand.

According to the source, this new version would already be manufactured in parallel with the current one, on the same production line. For the record, the latter has been assembled in the Middle Kingdom for more than three years already, but it is also produced in the United States for the local market and in Europe in the Berlin Gigafactory. Which also allows it to still have the right to the ecological bonus in France, and to escape the increase in customs duties in Europe.

What do we already know?

If Elon Musk had been clear in announcing that there would be no new version in 2024, an arrival in 2025 is therefore entirely plausible. Moreover, ItHome emphasizes that Tesla offers a big discount of 10,000 yuan (around 1,300 euros) on the Model Y, if ordered by the end of December. Europe is also well endowed, with one year of charging offered on its Supercharger network, which suggests that the manufacturer is trying to sell off its stocks before the arrival of the new Juniper variant.

The latest leak of a Tesla Model Y

What should we expect? For the moment, we don't yet know much about it, but everything suggests that this version would in fact inherit the improvements that were made to the restyled Model 3 last year. This should involve a revised style, with the arrival of new lights and a redesigned front shield. On board, the changes could be characterized by new ambient lighting and a reworked steering wheel. Comfort could be improved with heated and ventilated seats standard, among others.

Regarding the technical sheet, you should probably expect an increase in autonomywhich currently peaks at 600 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. This is thanks in particular to a lower Cx (drag coefficient), as on the sedan. On the other hand, the battery capacity should remain unchanged. While it is almost certain that this Juniper version will remain produced in Europe for our markets, it remains to be seen when production will start.
