Sophie Vénétitay, general secretary of SNES-FSU and professor in Essonne, denounces Thursday November 28 on franceinfo comments “irresponsible and unworthy” of the Minister Delegate for Academic Success Alexandre Portier. “Alexandre Portier listed a certain number of lies”adds Sophie Vénétitay. “It goes against what the role of school is.”
The minister declared on Wednesday that the draft sex life education program which must soon be formalized “was not acceptable” in the state. He notably committed “personally so that gender theory does not find its place in our schools, because it should not have its place there”.
“He lends a very attentive ear to small reactionary groups, to small conservative groups close to the extreme right”estimates the teacher who deplores the conservative revolt against the future sexuality education program. “We are still dealing with a very worrying political approach from a minister”adds Sophie Vénétitay. “It’s problematic to give a sounding board to very dangerous small groups, who threaten what we do in school”she adds.
However, this program has a “educational objective” and of “very important prevention”says Sophie Vénétitay. “Education for sexual and emotional life” also allows “to learn the notions of consent which are not well mastered”she believes. “Learning to say no, learning the different parts of your body, is a way to fight against sexual violence against children”explains Sophie Vénétitay, who recalls that on average three children per class are victims of incest, according to Ciivise (Independent Commission on Incest and Sexual Violence Against Children).
