Who is still able to stop them? Uncompromising against Real Madrid, Atlético and Juventus, the LOSC players were also concerned in Bologna this Wednesday, as part of the fifth day of the Champions League league phase. Thanks to a double scored by Ngal'ayel, but also and above all thanks to a successful collective performance, they defeated their opponents (1-2) and collected three additional points which will undoubtedly be decisive for the rest of the competition.

At the final whistle, Bruno Genesio had a smile and praised his men's control of the match: “I obviously remember the control we had most of the time in this match. It's a largely controlled victory based on everything we showed, both on tactical organization, to defend well and play high enough, and the use we made with the ball . There were a lot of good things, play that I like, forwards, verticals, races, one or two touch sequences. Maybe we could have even deserved to score an extra goal.”adds the technician.

“I am not alone”

This victory once again put young players in the spotlight, including Ngal'ayel Mukau (20 years old), Matias Fernandez-Pardo (19 years old) and Ayyoub Bouaddi (17 years old): “I am very happy to see that young players are flourishing and progressing. Now we will also need leaders, experienced playerswelcomes Bruno Genesio at a press conference. This alchemy between very young players who are very carefree and those who have more experience who bring us tactical and emotional stability, this is also what makes us strong. »

He also justified their simultaneous presence on the meadow by the linked rhythm: “I am lucky, with the return of many injured players, to have a squad which has recently been expanded with quality players. This allows me to be able to make choices both to be efficient but also to take care of everyone and distribute playing time. This is important given the pace followed since the beginning of August”he explains. Thomas Meunier, for example, had his first tenure since November 1st.

Finally, the last point raised is mental. In control, the match could have gone the wrong way following the Bolognese equalizer (63′). However, LOSC kept its calm and was able to turn the tide in a few seconds (66′). The score was then acquired. Visitors stunned:
“I hope that I still brought other things than mentallaughs Bruno Genesio, answering questions from curious journalists. But I'm not alone you know. I have a staff and people who help me every day.
I also have a group of players who relay what is asked of them, tactically and in terms of valueswhich I like. This is why I highlight the mix of experience and youth. There are players who are very important for all of this”
concludes the LOSC coach, without mentioning any names. Winners (1-2) in Bologna, the Mastiffs were then able to leave Italy with a calm mind and the feeling of a job well done.
