A letter like no other. Wednesday, November 27, the Colint School training center, located in Chalon-sur-Saône, received several envelopes from abroad, including one which contained white powder with traces of plague detected, indicate our colleagues from the Journal de Saône-et-Loire.
The strange discovery was quickly taken seriously by the management of the establishment, which offers training in computer programming, digital creation and even communication, and the authorities. “A white powder was present in one of these envelopes. It was analyzed and tested positive for the plague. No symptoms have been reported to date by the potential victims”said the prefecture of Saône-et-Loire in a press release.
An open investigation
Precautionary measures were immediately taken in the school. People who may have been in contact with this white powder were taken to a nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical (NRBC) structure at the university hospital center (CHU) of Chalon-sur-Saône, specifies the local newspaper. A monitoring unit was activated by the prefect of Saône-et-Loire in order to put in place all the necessary precautionary measures. “As a reminder, in these circumstances, there is no risk of person-to-person contamination. The situation is, at this stage, stabilized”reassured the prefecture. An investigation was opened by the Chalon-sur-Saône public prosecutor's office.
