Before being a trio and being called Les Inconnus, the troupe had five members and was called The Five. At the time, Bernard Campan, Didier Bourdon, Pascal Légitimus, Seymour Brussel, and even Smaïn, were part of the troupe.
A troop that was born thanks to Bouvard Theater. Indeed, the five comedians joined the show at the time broadcast on Antenna 2 and hosted by Philippe Bouvard. In 1985, they decided to collaborate and shoot the film The phone always rings twice. A feature film which will, nevertheless, be a failure.
Smaïn left Les Inconnus prematurely
It was shortly after that Smaïn left his four acolytes to launch his solo career with his first show entitled A star is fair. A project that will allow him to really launch his career and become one of the rising stars of the time. This allowed him to have a series of shows and roles in cinema and television.
Concerning the troupe of the Unknowns, after the departure of Smaïn, the troupe formerly called The Five will rename itself Pound cake. This will join Europe 1 in 1987 before Seymour Brussel in turn leaves Didier Bourdon, Bernard Campan, and Pascal Légitimus, who will definitively rename themselves The Unknowns.
The reason for his departure
This Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the first to leave the troupe was the guest of Buzz TV du Figaro. The opportunity for him to reveal the real reasons which pushed him to leave her. “So it’s going to be brutal what I’m going to say. I didn't want to do service Arabic. I wanted… Because I knew full well that if I continued to do sketches with them, I would have continued to play this identity. Whereas I have lots of identities. I have lots of identities”he confided.
Damien Canivez, surprised by Smaïn's statement, then retorted: “You had the feeling at the time that you were a bit of an Arab on duty, right?” “Yes, I will say it. Honestly, yes. And so, by escaping, by also leaving them their own talents, the proof, they left me mine, and then I succeeded too”then confirmed the comedian. However, he claims to be “remained very, very friends with Pascal, and Didier, and Bernard”.
