The Minister of Solidarity Paul Christophe had initially announced it for December 13, but the Christmas bonus will finally be paid four days later, i.e. December 17, 2024, the Ministries of Solidarity, Budget and Accounts announced on Tuesday, November 27 public in a joint press release.
Due to interbank delays, in certain cases you will have to wait between 48 and 72 hours to see it appear in your bank account.
Who benefits?
“Awarded to more than 2.2 million households, the Christmas bonus represents a boost for the most vulnerable households before the end-of-year holidays”indicates the ministerial press release.
“All beneficiaries of the active solidarity income (RSA), the specific solidarity allowance (ASS), the flat-rate bonus for resumption of activity and the retirement equivalent allowance (AER) will benefit”he specifies.
People who receive the ARE (Return to work allowance), the AAH (Disabled adult allowance) or the minimum old age are not eligible for this tax-free bonus.
How much will it amount?
Its amount, which is not indexed to inflation, is the same as in 2023 for a single person living in France (excluding Mayotte), at €152.45. For residents of Mayotte, its basic amount is €76.22.
Within a household, only one bonus is paid, even if two people benefit from social minimums. On the other hand, this varies depending on the composition of said household:
- If you do not have children, but live as a couple, it will be €228.68.
- If you have a child and live alone, it will be €308.72.
- If you have a child and live as a couple, it will be €274.41.
- If you have two children and live alone, it will be €370.45.
- If you have two children and live as a couple, it will be €320.15.
- If you have three children and live alone, it will be €452.78.
- If you have three children and live as a couple, it will be €381.13.
For each additional child, you must add €82.32 if you live alone and €60.98 if you live as a couple.
Payment of this bonus is automatic, you do not have to take any special steps to obtain it.
