These November 29 and 30, the town of Bidart will be one of the Telethon villages for this 2024 edition. Each year, this meeting is intended to talk about myopathies and other rare degenerative diseases that the Telethon helps to combat. The French Muscular Dystrophy Association (AFM) has been supporting patients and their families for 40 years. Thanks to the funds that this event raises, by appealing to the generosity of the public, medical research progresses and the lives of patients improve.
Timothée Léandri, the godfather of the Bidart Telethon, almost 18 years old, rides an electric wheelchair, but he is passionate about sports and has the mentality of a champion. This year was exceptional for him: he accomplished two of his big dreams. The first, participate in the Marathon for All of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, open to people with reduced mobility. He formed a pair with Thibaut, an able-bodied runner, who pushed him in a racing chair with a wheel in front. Timothée and Thibaut managed to complete the circuit, thus fulfilling the young man's dream.
His second dream was a trip to Iguaçu Falls, on the border between Brazil and Argentina, which rewarded his great sporting exploit.
