POLITICS – Although he may be withdrawing, some are catching up with him by the sleeve. While the National Rally threatens a motion of censure at the end of the examination of budgetary texts (State and Social Security finances), pressure is mounting on the executive. On Michel Barnier, who could be forced to pack his boxes but also on Emmanuel Macron.

For several days, certain elected officials have actually put the hypothesis of the resignation of the Head of State on the table. This Wednesday, November 27, it was the centrist Charles de Courson, general rapporteur of the budget to the Assembly, who added his voice to the little ambient music, explaining on LCI, that “ it is up to the president, who is at the origin of the political chaos (…) to respect the vote of the French. » So to resign? “ Of course. »

A significant statement, in that this suggestion was until now limited to the elected representatives of France Insoumise, recently joined by some at the National Rally. What happened? The government, already fragile, seems more threatened than ever and lasting political deadlock looms once again. From then on, eyes turned towards the Élysée.

When the RN draws a “ exit door »

For the rebels, the demand is almost historic. At the beginning of July, between the dissolution and the early legislative elections, Jean-Luc Mélenchon already explained that the head of state must “ see it all » in the event of another setback at the polls, “to break the deadlock. » A call repeated all summer, on TV sets or in the foreign press, then relayed to the Assembly by a proposal for dismissal.

But the novelty this fall comes from the National Rally after weeks of silence on the issue.

While they threaten to bring down the government, after a relative leniency which allowed the appointment of the current government, certain elected Lepenists are in turn raising the specter of a presidential resignation. It is ” a possibility » for the post-Michel Barnier period, « a solution » or “a way out”explained Sébastien Chenu, the vice-president of the RN and his colleague Philippe Ballard, in quick succession, on Sunday on television.

Behind this offensive, some will not fail to see the desire of the Lepéniste party to speed up things for an early presidential election, at a time when its “natural candidate” is threatened with being ineligible in 2027. For the far right it it is a question of accustoming the political and media atmosphere to this idea but also of shifting the responsibility for a possible ” dog », in the words of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot, on the Élysée and its tenant.

Pressure with Courson

Because among these elected officials, to whom we can now add Charles de Courson, one point appears common: it is the President of the Republic and he alone who is responsible for the current political situation. Impossible, therefore, to place the blame on the deputies, whatever their choices on the budget or on a possible motion of censure.

In this context, it is not insignificant to see the rebels massively relaying the last speech of the deputy member of the independent group “Liot”. “ Macron's resignation is on the agenda », rejoices, for example, the elected official from Essonne, Antoine Léaument, close to Jean-Luc Mélenchon, by sharing the video extract of the centrist on social networks.

A way for the radical left to continue to nourish this possibility, which has been ruled out by the President of the Republic until now.
