Modric: This is what we missed, and we have a chance to be in the first positions
Real Madrid midfield star Luka Modric appeared in press statements after the 2-0 loss to Liverpool, in the fifth round of the Champions League.
The Croatian star said: “We are not accustomed to losing, but this is the Champions League and we know that they are difficult matches. There are still three more matches and we have to improve, and I believe we will do that.”
He added: “In the last two league matches we were in good momentum. Today we performed well in the first half and the penalty kick could have changed the match, but we did not take advantage of it. Then the second goal came and the match was almost lost.”
He continued: “We performed well in defense, as we had very close lines. We had a good number of rebounds, but in the final third we lacked more… and that was the difference.”
He continued: “Mbappe? We see him doing a good job, and training well and with complete confidence. Sometimes he appears and sometimes he does not. Today he did not appear, but we have confidence in him. I am sure that he will do what is expected of him.”
He concluded: “Being in the top eight? There is still a possibility, and we have to hope to perform better. We have three difficult matches, especially the match against Atalanta, but if we win all three matches there will be a chance to reach the top eight.”
