Fabien Pinckaers, founder of Odoo, describes his life as a billionaire: “I don’t have much in my bank account”

Fabien Pinckaers, the founder of Odoo, is not the type of billionaire who collects cars and lives in a castle.

At 45, Fabien Pinckaers, originally from Ottignies, is a billionaire. His company, Odoo, has recently been valued at five billion euros, the highest among Belgian technology companies.

Guest in the RTL info Signatures, the entrepreneur described his life, which is ultimately rather far from fantasies: “I’m not a billionaire at all… Well, not like people think, anyway. Indeed, on paper, I have a company that is worth money. But I don’t have much in my bank account. I have a good salary, but nothing more, what“, he admits.

Does he have a luxury car? Not even. “It’s a BMW 1 series, which is 14 years old, I think. She could no longer return to Brussels in January. But now they’ve pushed back“, he laughs.

His relationship with money has not particularly changed either. “My life, yes, because my job is different. When you’re all alone, it’s a job. When you have 5 employees, it’s another job. When you have 5,000, it’s another one. But it’s my job that has changed. I haven’t changed much“, he says.

Founded in 2002, Odoo now boasts 13 million users and acquires 7,000 new ones every month. With constant annual growth of 40%, the unicorn expects a turnover of one billion euros by 2027. While it has around fifteen subsidiaries, Odoo plans to “open five new ones at over the next three years in Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific”, according to Sébastien Bruyr, commercial director.
