Tensions in Bologna. Clashes broke out during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday between supporters of Lille and the Italian club, opposed on Wednesday evening (9 p.m.) on the occasion of the fifth day of the Champions League. Le Losc, who evokes a “collective attack”, affirms that two people who came to support the northern team were “treated medically”.
“During this ambush, which allegedly involved around 80 attackers, two of our supporters were notably injured with knives and received medical treatment,” explains the Lille club in a press release. The Club unreservedly condemns this cowardly and intolerable attack, which contravenes all the values of football and popular support. He supports the supporters who were victims of these attacks and wishes them the best recovery. »
According to the transalpine newspaper Il Resto del Carlino, 80 Bologna supporters attacked around thirty of their Lille counterparts, who had come to spend the evening in a pub in the student district. The media speaks of a rapid and “very violent” ambush, with attackers armed with belts and metal bars. Three Lille residents were affected, and two had to be hospitalized, as the club claims. La Voix du Nord mentions the presence of knives in the hands of certain supporters of the Italian club.
The police intervened to restore calm after this confrontation, some unclear images of which were broadcast on social networks. It is not known whether some of the alleged attackers were arrested by law enforcement.
“Arrangements have already been taken by the Italian police to strengthen the supervision and reception of the Lille public in Bologna, and instructions are, and will be communicated, directly on site to our groups of supporters, continues the Lille club. However, LOSC calls on its public present in Bologna to exercise the greatest vigilance, so that this trip takes place in secure conditions. »
Three weeks ago, several Monaco supporters, who also came to play a Champions League match in northern Italy, were attacked by local supporters. Two Monegasques had been hospitalized.
Still according to Il Resto Di Carlino, a small group of four or five people tried to enter around 3 a.m. into the courtyard of the hotel where Jonathan David and his partners were staying. Spotted by the establishment's security, they allegedly threw firecrackers and smoke bombs before fleeing.
Currently seventeenth in this unique Champions League group, Lille can consolidate its objective of qualifying for the play-offs in the event of a positive result against Bologna, 31st with only one point in four games.
