Only a few weeks after the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, this Monday, November 25, their international counterparts were awarded. Among the numerous nominations, seven French programs stood out, including a series which created a surprise by winning one of the coveted prizes… Here is where to (re)see the French programs acclaimed during the 52nd International Emmy Awards ceremony.
You may not have known it, but since 1969 the International Emmy Awards have been awarded, prestigious prizes which aim to reward and highlight series and other programs initially broadcast outside the United States. For this 52nd edition, seven contents of French origin were among the 56 nominations in total. During the awards ceremony, which was held on November 25, 2024, an American-French-Japanese series notably walked away with the prestigious award for Best Drama Series…
Drops of God, crowned Best Drama Series, on Apple TV+
It is the only program (in part) from France which received a distinction last Monday. Adapted from a manga about wine, Drops of God was crowned Best Drama Series at the International Emmy Awards. As a reminder, the show follows Camille, a young woman who inherits the extraordinary wine collection from her father, Alexandre Léger, after his death. But it is not enough for him to sign a document at the notary. In order to claim her heritage, Camille will have to beat Issei, her father's protégé, in a test designed to test their senses.

Tapie: Laurent Lafitte named Best Actor for the Netflix series
On September 13, Netflix unveiled a biopic mini-series on businessman and former minister Bernard Tapie. If this original creation of the platform with the red N has caused a lot of ink to flow, Laurent Lafitte's performance was unanimously unanimous. It was even praised across the Atlantic, since the latter was nominated in the Best Actor category at the International Emmy Awards.

You certainly discovered it in the series The Legends OfficeSara Giraudeau was back on the small screen this year: she plays Marion in the original Disney+ creation Everything is finea role which earned her a nice nomination in the Best Actress category at the International Emmy Awards. Inspired by true events, the series follows an ordinary family who finds themselves confronted with a serious illness affecting one of their children, little Rose. Marion, her mother, who was already having difficulty managing her married life and organizing herself, finds herself completely lost and distraught in the face of her daughter's illness. Overall, it is the whole family who must try to continue moving forward on a daily basis, for Rose's well-being.

Tour de France, named Best Sports Documentary, on Netflix
In the sports documentary category, we once again find a French production and, obviously, this one focuses on the one and only Tour de France. With a first season broadcast in June 2023 and a second in June 2024, the documentary Tour de France: At the heart of the peloton was a big success for Netflix, so much so that a season 3 is expected soon. This original program plunges us into the heart of the biggest cycling race in the world, and more particularly into the moments of joy but also the sorrows and failures of the teams.

In the Best Comedy Series category, we ask HPI.
