From December 22, 2024, medical consultations from general practitioners and specialists will increase, increase ranging from fifty cents to several euros.
It results from an agreement signed last June between Health Insurance and private doctors. In exchange for more deductions from prescriptions for medicines, examinations and sick leave, health professionals obtained an increase in consultation prices.
Plus 3.50 euros for general practitioners
General practitioners are part of this increase. A consultation will go from 26.50 euros to 30 euros in December. And it's even more for the youngest. “For children under 6 years old, the consultation will increase to 35 euros, compared to 31.50 euros until now,” specifies service-public.fr.
Medical care for children will not only increase at the GP. For a child under 2 years old, the consultation with the pediatrician increases from 38.50 euros to 39 euros in December. In 2025, it will even reach 40 euros.
And for a child from 2 years old to less than 6 years old, the price of the consultation with the pediatrician increases from 33.50 euros currently to 35 euros in December.
Seeing a psychiatrist or even a neurologist will cost 55 euros from December (compared to 51.70 euros at the moment).
The coordinated consultation with the medical gynecologist, set at 33.50 euros, will increase to 37 euros in December 2024 to reach 40 euros in July 2025.
These are not the only specialties to see the price rise. To consult the price of consultations in detail, you can go here.
No notable increase for patients
As we explained last June, the price paid by the patient should not jump significantly.
Currently, at the general practitioner, if he is your attending physician, Health Insurance reimburses you 70% of the consultation price(i.e. 16.55 euros after deduction of the fixed contribution of 2 euros).
If you consult a doctor who is not your treating doctor, Health Insurance reimburses 30%or 5.95 euros (after deduction of the fixed contribution of 2 euros).
Supplementary health insurance supplements the reimbursement by covering 30 %.
Health insurance also covers 70% of the consultation for gynecologists, ophthalmologists (for the prescription and renewal of glasses, glaucoma screening and follow-up procedures), psychiatrists or neuropsychiatrists (if you are between 16 and 25 years), or stomatologists.
These support rates should not change. Thus, at the general practitioner, if he is your treating doctor, and at the specialists, the consultation will always be reimbursed up to 70%, or 19 euros according to the new prices and after deduction of the fixed contribution of 2 euros.
But this increase could cause an increase in the price of health supplements. Because the additional cost of this rate change is estimated at 300 million euros for mutual insurance companies.
