Bayer Leverkusen sweeps Salzburg…and Atalanta crushes Young Boys in the Champions League

Bayer Leverkusen of Germany achieved a major victory over its guest, Red Bull Salzburg of Austria, with a score of 5-0, in the match that brought them together on Tuesday evening in the fifth round of the group stage of the Champions League.

Leverkusen contributed to settling the match early by scoring two goals in the first 11 minutes, as German star Florian Wirtz opened the scoring from a penalty kick in the 8th minute, then Spaniard Alejandro Grimaldo added the second goal in the 11th minute, and Wirtz returned to strengthen his team’s lead by scoring the third goal in the 30th minute.

In the second half, Czech striker Patrik Cech added the fourth goal in the 61st minute, before Spanish Alex Garcia concluded the goal festival by scoring the fifth goal in the 72nd minute.

With this victory, Bayer Leverkusen raised its score to 10 points in sixth place, while Red Bull Salzburg’s score stopped at three points in third place.

Italian club Atalanta achieves a landslide victory over Young Boys

In another match, Atalanta of Italy defeated its host Young Boys of Switzerland 6-1, achieving its third victory in the Champions League this season.

Matteo Rettegui opened the scoring for Atalanta in the 9th minute, but Young Boys quickly equalized through Silver Ganvola just two minutes later.

Then Atalanta continued to shine, as Charles De Kittilari scored the second goal in the 28th minute, and Sead Kolasinac added the third goal in the 32nd minute. In the 38th minute, Retegui returned and scored the fourth goal.

In the second half, De Kittilari added his second goal and his team’s fifth in the 56th minute, before Lazar Samardzic concluded the scoring in stoppage time.
Atalanta raised its score to 11 points in fourth place, while Young Boys remained without points after five consecutive defeats.
