The State will contribute 50% of the cost to the construction, inspection of the project and acquisition of equipment for the future Central and University Hospital of Madeira, with the approval of a proposal from the PSD and CDS-PP in this regard.
The proposal was unanimously approved in the votes on proposed amendments to the State Budget for 2025 (OE2025).
With this proposal, “the Government ensures the State’s counterpart in the construction, supervision of the contract and acquisition of medical and hospital equipment for the future Central and University Hospital of Madeira, approved as a project of common interest, through financial support corresponding to 50% of the value of the respective cost”.
This value “is that presented in the application for a project of common interest approved in 2018, with the update resulting, namely from the increase in costs originating/derived from inflation, thus guaranteeing the effective participation of the State in its real cost” , dictates the proposal.
A similar proposal from BE regarding the Hospital da Madeira was also approved, which states that the “Government ensures financial support corresponding to 50% of the value of construction, supervision of the contract and acquisition of medical and hospital equipment for the future Central and University Hospital of Madeira, approved as a project of common interest, in accordance with the updated financial programming of the work, in cooperation with the self-governing bodies of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, guaranteeing the contribution of the increase in price updates resulting from inflation in relation to the value of the candidacy approved in 2018”.
In addition, a set of measures from the parties that support the Government, PSD and CDS-PP, relating to the autonomous regions also received the ‘green light’, such as the reinforcement of means of fighting fires in Madeira and a measure that states that “during In 2025, the Government will take steps to launch an international public tender for the existence of a regular maritime passenger transport line between the island of Madeira and the mainland”.
