Erling Haaland is under threat of being sent to prison on the Swiss side. He forgot to pay a parking fine.
Although there is little chance of this happening, the facts are there: Erling Haaland risks a prison sentence on the Swiss side. On vacation during a short visit to his father who lives there, the Manchester City star did not pay for his parking and also did not pay the fine he received for this fault. According to Swiss law, he therefore risks a prison sentence if he does not pay this fine as quickly as possible.
It's the newspaper Blick who relayed this information by explaining that the name of the Norwegian international was listed in “The official notice sheet” of the canton of Vaud. Erling Haaland owes sixty Swiss francs (a little over sixty-four euros). A trifle for the millionaire footballer, but which could therefore send him to the cell. Not for very long, however, because such an offense is synonymous with twenty-four hours in prison.
An extension and a jackpot in sight?
If he does not want to be taken behind bars when he crosses the Swiss border again, Erling Haaland will have to quickly pay his debt. A financial peccadillo, especially since he could very soon sign a fantastic contract extension with Manchester City. Hired until June 2027, Haaland would notably discuss a significant salary increase. For its part, the Mancunian club is working on developing a contract aimed at extending its striker.
According to several English media, the idea would be to offer a five-year extension with an increased salary. While Erling Haaland receives around twenty-two million euros annually at the moment, this potential extension would offer him an overall gain of 120 million euros, not counting bonuses. Probably enough to get a parking card in Switzerland and avoid any unnecessary fines in the future.
