The teams qualified for the African Youth Cup of Nations after the end of the North African U-20 qualifiers

The curtain came down a while ago on the North African Under-20 Championship, and the qualifying teams for the 2025 Africa Youth Cup of Nations were determined.

The qualifying qualifiers for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations were held in Egypt, from November 14 to 26, with the participation of 5 teams: Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia.

The North African Championship was played in a league system, with all teams facing each other, from which the top and runner-up teams qualified.

The Egyptian national team played 3 matches in the North African Under-17 Championship qualifiers. It was defeated in the first round by Morocco 5-1, won in the second round against Algeria 2-1, and was victorious in the third round against Tunisia with a score of 3-2.

The Egyptian and Moroccan national teams succeeded in qualifying for the African Cup of Nations after the Atlas Lions occupied the top spot in the North African Championship, while the Pharaohs finished runner-up.

Senegal (the defending champion) and Sierra Leone were the first teams to qualify for the African Youth Cup of Nations after winning first place and second place in the West African Federation “A” Championship.

Ghana and Nigeria also qualified for the finals of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations for the West African B region.

Regarding the Central African region, the teams of Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo qualified as leaders and runners-up in the competition, which witnessed the participation of Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, the Central African Republic, and Gabon.

For the same competition, the teams of South Africa and Zambia qualified after qualifying from the Southern African Confederation (COSAFA) region.

The remaining 12 teams participating in the African Youth Cup of Nations are the two teams that qualified from the East and Central African Football Association Championship.
