This is how Lewandowski made history in the Champions League! It couldn't be better!

It was the 10th minute of the match of the fifth round of the Champions League FC Barcelona – Stade 29. That's when Pedri softly crossed the ball into the penalty area to Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker had his back to the goal, received the ball on his chest and was tackled by goalkeeper Marco Bizot. The referee whistled a penalty kick. “Lewy” came up to the eleven, confused the goalkeeper and shot into the net with a confident shot. It was the only goal in the first half. In the 66th minute, FC Barcelona's lead was increased after a beautiful, individual action by Dani Olmo.

Robert Lewandowski's 100th goal in the Champions League

For Robert Lewandowski, this is the 100th goal in the 125th match in the Champions League. He scored 69 goals for Bayern, 17 for Borussia and 14 for Barcelona. So far, only two players have achieved an impressive barrier in this competition – the fantastic, best in recent years, the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo (140 goals) and the Argentine Leo Messi (129 goals). Now Lewandowski has joined them.

Lewandowski scored his first goal in the Champions League over 13 years ago – on October 19, 2011 – while playing for Borussia Dortmund in a match against Olympiakos Piraeus. He then scored in 14 consecutive seasons in the Champions League. He scored the most goals in the 2019/20 season, as many as 15. He came very close to this result in the 2021/2022 competition – 13 goals.

This season, Lewandowski already has six goals in the Champions League and is the leader among the most effective players. The Brazilian Raphinha (FC Barcelona), the Englishman Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), the Swede Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting), Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen) and Erling Haaland (Manchester City) have one goal less.
