The CAF TotalEnergies Champions League and the CAF TotalEnergies Confederation Cup embody the pinnacle of club football on the African continent. They provide players and coaches with a prestigious stage to etch their names in the annals of history by winning these coveted trophies.
The group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League begins for the 16 qualified teams, with the first day scheduled for November 26. Among the most anticipated matches, a major Moroccan derby will pit Raja Casablanca against AS FAR Rabat in Group B.
These two competitions, synonymous with strong emotions and memorable performances, have marked the history of African football. The current season promises to add an exceptional chapter to this epic.
Maniema Union, a club from the Democratic Republic of Congo, makes its historic entry at this stage of the competition with a tough confrontation away to Pretoria, where the formidable Mamelodi Sundowns await them in the other match of the group.
Defending champions, legendary Al Ahly of Egypt, begin their Group C campaign with a home match against Stade d’Abidjan of Ivory Coast. At the same time, Orlando Pirates, who return to the group stage for the first time since the 2018/19 season, will travel to Algiers to face CR Belouizdad.
This group phase will take place in the form of an intense sprint over two months. The first two teams in each group will qualify for the quarter-finals, the conclusion of which is scheduled for the sixth day, from January 17 to 19, 2025.
Holder of an all-time record 12 titles, Al Ahly have won the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League four times in the last five years. Once again, the Egyptians are among the big favorites thanks to their mastery of the knockout stages.
The TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup will begin its group stage on November 27. Here again, many confrontations promise to be thrilling. Title holders Zamalek will face the Mozambique Black Bulls, newbies at this stage and facing a tough test. Furthermore, a North African clash will pit CS Sfaxien of Tunisia against CS Constantine of Algeria.
RS Berkane, vice-champion of the 2023/24 edition, will begin their campaign against CD da Lunda Sul, an Angolan club which is also discovering the group stage.
The quarter-finals of this season’s club competitions will take place from March 28 to 30 (first leg) and April 4 to 6 (second leg). The semi-finals are scheduled for April 18 to 20 (outbound) and April 25 to 27 (return).
