The price to pay for those who do not pay.
FC Barcelona announced this Tuesday, through an official press release on its website, the temporary closure of the Animation Space, one of the active stands of the Olympic stadium of Montjuic, due to the non-respect by its four associations of supporters of their obligations contracted with the club. The closure of the stand takes effect from the Champions League match this Tuesday evening against Stade Brestois (9 p.m.) and until further notice.
Fourteen cumulative offenses
This suspension follows the ultimatum posed by FC Barcelona to some of its official supporters groups, invited to help reimburse the fourteen disciplinary sanctions (21,000 euros in total) imposed by the Spanish and European authorities on the club following excesses of Catalan fans in the stands last season. The final recovery period for the said amounts having expired this Monday evening at midnight without result, FC Barcelona is therefore closing the space in question sine the, “supporter groups having failed to comply with their obligations within the agreed deadlines”.
