FC Barcelona announces the closure of its entertainment stand due to the numerous proceedings initiated against the club for the actions of the groups occupying this space.
Too much is enough. Barça has decided to close its entertainment stand from this Tuesday (9 p.m.) during the Champions League match against Brest. In a press release, the club denounced the numerous excesses of groups who frequent this space dedicated to setting the mood, with numerous disciplinary procedures. Barça's calls to order and warnings went unheeded, pushing the leaders to close the space until further notice.
The club demanded payment of the sanctions
“FC Barcelona informs that from today, the Entertainment Space (EDA) of the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium will be closed due to the groups' non-compliance with the obligations they have contracted with the club,” the statement said.
“Given the content of the agreements accepted and signed between the club and the supporters' groups, FC Barcelona, after several warnings, has begun the process of recovering the amount of sanctions imposed on the club for their behavior in the stands last season, behavior which generated up to fourteen disciplinary procedures for behavior contrary to the regulations in force in the supporters' area”, continues the text. “During this process, groups were given up to three different deadlines to comply with their obligations, the last of which expired at midnight last night with no results.”
According to Sport, Barça had requested payment from the four groups that make up this space (Almogàvers, Front 532, Nostra Ensenya and Supporters Barça) of the 21,000 euros corresponding to the sanctions imposed last season. The ultimatum set Monday at 11:59 p.m. was not respected by the groups who believe that responsibility cannot be collective, but must rather be assumed by the person who uttered offensive songs or lit smoke bombs. And the sanction did not take long.
“As the various groups have been informed, having not respected their obligations within the agreed deadlines, FC Barcelona is closing the Espai d'Animació sine die,” the press release states. “At the same time, we reiterate to the groups in question the full availability of the club, once they have fulfilled their obligations, to discuss with them the situation of the EDA.”
